šŸ’° $100 → free money with airdrops

PLUS: Ramaswamy on crypto

GM everyone. This is 2036, the crypto newsletter that pays you.

Here’s what we’re serving up today šŸ²: airdrops are the best way to make money in crypto if you have a) less than $10,000 to your name and b) some time to spare. And there’s a new airdrop in town that’s worth your time.

Let’s dig in.

Get smarter on crypto in 2 minutes

We’ve talked about airdrops before - here, here, and here.

In short - airdrops are ways for crypto projects to incentivize adoption.

In exchange for using protocols early, crypto users are rewarded with free tokens transferred to their wallets. No, it’s not a scam, and no, you don’t have to pay for these tokens.

All you need is curiosity and time - which is why airdrops are hugely popular in crypto and have earned a spot in our ā€˜Opportunities’ section below.

Some savvy users make 5, 6 or 7-figures a year from them.

And there’s a new potential airdrop worth looking atā€¦šŸ‘€

You see, Layer 1 blockchains are base blockchains on which other applications are built. The 3 most famous ones are Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.

Layer 2s, on the other hand, are blockchains built on top of Layer 1s to make them faster, cheaper, and more efficient.

Layer2s do this by rolling up transactions into bundles and sending the data back to Layer 1s.

For example, the Lightning Network is a Layer 2 that makes Bitcoin faster.

And Optimism and Arbitrum (a billionaire’s new favorite coin) make Ethereum faster and cheaper.

Mantle is a new Layer 2 for Ethereum - similar to Optimism and Arbitrum.

And we expect its airdrop could be juicy.

Layer 2s like Mantle have a history of dropping enormous amounts of tokens to their users:

  • Arbitrum airdropped over ∼$1 billion in tokens to users.

  • Optimism airdropped ∼$200 million in its first round of airdrop. It completed the 3rd one this week.

So far, Mantle has raised $230 MILLION in funding… enough gas in the tank to make it rain.

Mantle hasn’t confirmed an airdrop. But its website has an overview of how you can qualify for ā€˜rewards in the ecosystem.’ (hmm…rewards)

So while there’s no guarantee of an airdrop, here’s an easy way to qualify if it happens…

Step #1: Add Mantle to your Rabby/Metamask wallet.

Next, click ā€˜Connect Wallet’ and then ā€˜Add to Metamask.’

Step #2: Buy some Mantle coins (MNT) on Uniswap

Head over to Uniswap and connect your wallet.

Then, click ā€˜Select Token’ and insert this token address:

0x3c3a81e81dc49a522a592e7622a7e711c06bf354

This is the token contract address for MNT.

Step #3: Bridge your MNT tokens over to the Mantle network

Use the official Mantle bridge to move your MNT tokens from the Ethereum network to Mantle.

Step #4: Swap assets on the Mantle network

Head over to Izumi Finance, connect your wallet, and change the network to Mantle

Choose any available asset you want to swap. You can swap the assets back directly afterward if you want. What matters is that you make one or more transactions.

… and voila.

If Mantle decides to airdrop tokens, you’ll qualify with these steps.

If you’re in the mood, you can even go one step further and mint an NFT on the Mantle network via Holograph.

To increase the amount you may be airdropped, you can occasionally swap more coins on Mantle (step #4).

We’ll keep monitoring the best airdrops out there for you.
