🤩 The new NFTs on the rise 👀

PLUS: Why Doge is pumping & the ECB's new control system

🧙‍♂️

GM everyone. This is 2036, the crypto newsletter that pays you đź’¸

We’re only four months into the year, but one thing’s been the talk of the town since nearly the beginning: bitcoin NFTs.

Over 1 million bitcoin NFTs have been minted since February. 20% of these mints happened just last week.

And all the biggest names in NFT-land have joined the party.

Last month, Yuga Labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club, netted a cool $16.5 million from their latest 300-piece drop.

So if you're wondering how you can get your hands on one of those bad boys yourself, read on.

We’ve written about bitcoin NFTs before - both here and here.

We even paid readers to mint a bitcoin NFT back in February. On the fast train here at 2036.

But if you’re out of the loop, here’s the 8-second summary: earlier this year, a developer discovered a way to inscribe a satoshi - one-millionth of a bitcoin - with data like text, pictures, and videos.

He built the protocol to do it and called it Ordinal.

These satoshis inscribed with pictures became the new Bitcoin NFTs.

They’re one of the very rare innovations in bitcoin. And they're selling like hotcakes.

Here’s the chart of new inscriptions over time:

Last week, rocket fuel was added to the fire for two main reasons:

1/ One of the biggest NFT marketplaces in the world now supports bitcoin NFTs.

As we wrote in our earlier newsletters, there was no central place to trade these beauties before. You had to go on those shady websites your parents told you to stay away from.

But that was then.

Magic Eden, one of the largest NFT marketplaces in the world, now supports bitcoin NFTs.

This means millions of people who didn’t want to do backdoor deals can now trade bitcoin NFTs freely.

Open markets = a good thing.

2/ The biggest NFTs collections are coming to bitcoin

Yuga Labs is the biggest name in NFTs. They own the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutants, Cryptopunks and are launching Otherside - a gaming metaverse.

Last month, they dropped a collection of 300 Bitcoin NFTs.

DeGods, for a long time the most popular collection on Solana, did the same.

We also got Sappy Seals. And it likely won’t be long before others join the party.

Why are they moving over? Because bitcoin is still the best brand in crypto. It’s 14 years old and shows no signs of going anywhere.

So how do you get your hands on one of these?

Before, we had to send you into backdoor Discord servers that used Excel sheets to track prices (yes, that’s actually how it went down).

Now you can simply head over to Magic Eden or Ordinals Wallet and browse around.

But beware: NFTs ain’t for the faint of heart.

Most NFTs are down bad. Like 99%-down bad.

If crypto is the wild west of finance, NFTs are the wild west of crypto.

Wild Wild West, Jim West, desperado, rough rider, no you don't want nada

Prices can easily pump and crash 80% in a day.

So participate at your peril.
