- 👀 Three things you can't miss this week
GM everyone. This is 2036. We scroll for gems all day so you don’t have to.
Bitcoin crosses $42K, NFTs skyrocket, and more ways to get exposure to the crypto gaming space.
Here’s a run-down of the actionable things I’m paying attention to this week 🍲…
Let’s dig in.
1/ Bitcoin and gold cross $42,000 and $2,100 respectively 🚀
There are a few things that make me really happy in the morning.
A warm cup of green tea. My son smiling at me. Bitcoin above $40,000.
Luckily, all three of those happened today.
Bitcoin AND gold pumping at the same time is probably a sign of a more significant macroeconomic trend.
It could signal two things:
a) that the market believes real interest rates have peaked - and are going lower from here.
b) the market fears stocks and bonds - and is buying high-quality, safe assets.
Truth is - no one really knows for sure yet, but as the story plays out, it will be obvious in hindsight.
All we know is that people are buying Bitcoin and ETH with size and that names we like - $COIN, $RIOT, etc. - are all likely to open up 10-15%+ on the market today.
Remember, round numbers - like $40,000 - are psychological barriers. They attract attention.
Bitcoin was on the front page of CNBC this morning.
This means slowly - but surely - the rest of the population that doesn’t read 2036 will become aware of bitcoin’s price appreciation.
For now, we’re just getting started. You’re not late to the party.
So this week, I’ll dive into how to position yourself better for the bull market if you’re still not 100% allocated.
2/ Great NFTs can still be (relatively) cheap 🖼️
If crypto is the wild west of finance, NFTs are the wild west of crypto.
NFTs suffered a terrible bear market this year.
But it looks like they’re back.
I’ve got eyes on the Pudgy Penguins ecosystem and Solana NFTs.
Pudgy Penguins is an NFT collection that’s been on an absolute tear recently.
Their toys are in Walmart, and their smaller-priced collection - Lil Pudgys - is still priced under 1 ETH.
I could be wrong - but I think they have a shot at becoming one of the most valuable collections on Ethereum…👀
Likewise, Solana NFTs are soaring.
Just like on Ethereum, a handful of collections will come out on top - and stay there for a while.
I think MadLads and Tensorians are well-positioned to do that (Quekz are also popping up everywhere on my timeline).
The lowest price on a MadLads is already ∼$11,000 (and ∼$3,200 for a Tensorian).
But if that’s out of your price range, Solana is also home to incredible crypto games with NFTs (and tokens).
One of those is Tatsumeeko.
I met the Tatsumeeko team multiple times last year to work on launching their NFT collection.
I should have bought a ton of them on launch: they’re up 30X in the last month.
On a large dip, I might pull the trigger. If not, there will be plenty more opportunities because web3 gaming is booming again.
The private placement we completed last week was done alongside Animoca Brands, one of the biggest players in the space.
And some tokens like GuildFi are still relatively undervalued.
I’ll be doing more private investing in gaming opportunities. The next time I spot a golden opportunity, you’ll be the first to know.
And speaking of gaming…
3/ AI x Gaming is (probably) going to be a no-brainer 🎮
AI was all anyone could talk about this year.
So much so that Arthur Hayes - the king of crypto trading - calls it the obvious thing to pump this cycle (here’s what he bought to profit).
Games are going to be huge.
But games that integrate elements of AI could go to the moon.
Imagine players using AI to generate their own game worlds within an existing game.
That’s next-level stuff.
I’ll be talking more about these in the coming weeks and months.
